F.A.T.V.O.E - Extended

Vadriar

Tired of waking up again and again from a dream, the trio once again test to see if everything that is happening is real. Everything seems normal, but Vladimir senses magic that he once again can’t seem to pinpoint. They assume its from the used-to-be inn. They decide to continue on forward. Not know how much time has passed, the group decides to continue on forward as fast as they can. They reach a fork in the road with a sign that points to the right saying “Bloodreavers Hideout”. As they look to the right, they notice a black wavering wall in their way. Not knowing what is in that direction, and believe the little sign to be false, they lead right towards the town of Vadriar. On the road, they come across a group known as the “Red Eye Gang”, but have no affiliation with the Bloodreavers. They defeat the Red Eye Gang and continue on their way. Eventually, after battling remains of the Red Eye Gang along the road, they come across a very thriving town called Vadriar. The town seems pretty nice and everyone seems very happy to see them. They speak of how they have heard of F.A.T.V.O.E and praise the group for saving Winterhaven. The people seem very happy, but their happiness seems to get in the way of asking them questions about the Bloodreavers making the group extremely frustrated, all except for Gworomere, who, also, seems ridiculously happy. The happiness spreads to Gwillym, and only Vladimir seems to be unaffected by the glee that seems to be spreading. They head to the closest inn, against Vladimir’s will, and drink until they can’t drink anymore. They all gain the attention of three women who lead the trio into different places alone. Gworomere’s woman is a short, but very cute, but tall brunette elf who seems very intelligent and who leads him to “her house”. She tries to seduce him, but fails as he keeps repeating, though he is drunk, that he has a fiancee’. She continues until he passes out. Gwillym’s young woman is a dark haired halfling who tries and tries again to argue and fight with Gwillym. Gwillym seems to have no care about fighting or being seduced. She invites him to a room upstairs and he follows unknowingly. She attempts to seduce him and all seems well until he falls asleep. Vladimir’s seducer is a cute, but ditsy blonde human. She tries again and again to bring him across the street to where she claims to own a tavern, but he refuses. Finally, he agrees to come when she mentions that she has some weapons and spell books as well. As the only one not drunk, he puts up a fight with his “friend” until she beats up, ties him up and steals his gold he has on him

The Time-traveling River

Gwillym, Gworomere, and Vladimir decide, after telling each other the strange dreams that they had, that they no longer wish to stay at the inn. They quickly leave. As they walk outside, they notice that it must be fall. Months have passed and as they decide they want to go speak to the owners of the inn, it is not longer there. All that remains in the spot of The Halfmoon inn is a nice grain field. The trio continue down the path, but nothing is the same. On the path, they run into some gnolls and duergars. They quickly defeat their opponents and leave as quickly as possible. The trio then arrive at a river. Covered in blood of their previous battles, they decide they need to wash up a bit. After cleaning themselves up, they look onto the riverbank to find that all of their equipment and cloths have been stolen. As they frantically look for any sign of their items, they see a very beautiful dwarf. She seems to be cleaning herself and starts to speak to the trio. After not getting any response from her, Vladimir discovers magic on her and demises it. She, now a duergar, attacks the trio along with some scouts who have come out of the water. The trio defeat her luckily without any problems. They dunk their heads underneath the water, and the leaves have chanced. It seems to be summer. The air is warm, and the water feels nice and cool. The trio look around for anything they can use to cover themselves to no avail. They happen upon some adventurers on the bank who all attack the trio assuming they are enemies. After convincing the group they are not the enemy, they are pushed into the water. As they come up, they realize that it is freezing cold and is now winter. They start to shiver as they notice a little blonde girl staring at them. They call out to her as another child, a boy, with dark hair walks up to her. As the naked adventurers call out to the children, the children start to scream and run off to their parents. Their parents seem to be future Gworomere, Salvania, Gwillym, Miri, Vladimir, and Naomi. After speaking to their past selves, they discover that the future Gworomere, Gwillym, and Vladimir have no recollection of any of this happening to them. They decide to travel back with the future selves to Winterhaven where they rest in Gworomere’s house to only wake up in a field, present time, right where the inn was supposed to be.

Entering Thunderspire Mountain

Now that the trio, Gwillym, Gworomere, and Vladimir, have separated from the main group of F.A.T.V.O.E, they continue towards Thunderspire Mountain to attempt to defeat the Bloodreavers, but first, they decide to head towards Winterhaven to inform Salvania, Gworomere’s fiancee’, that he is off on another adventure and will be returning soon, hopefully before their wedding in 3 months. While in Winterhaven, Salvania hands Gworomere a piece of parchment that says “Right, not Left.” Salvania wishes the group farewell and they head off to the mountains. Nothing in particular happens during the travels and make it quickly to the entrance of the mountains. They reach a very large gate with a Minotaur in the front. Once inside, the only one who feels at home is Gwillym. They travel through some tunnels and see what seems like to be a ruined city inside the mountains. Everything is rubble and the only life they happen upon are some goblins who are holding a halfling captive. After rescuing the halfling, he informs the trio that he is a young mage from Fallcrest named Rendil. He tells them the little information on what he knows about the Bloodreavers (which is about the Chamber of Eyes), and says that if they need anything to find him in his house just outside of Fallcrest. He returns home. As the trio continue on, they fall through a hole in the in the floor and into a pitch black cavern. Not even Vladimir can light his wand. The trio find their way to a river where they find an elderly dwarven woman singing a song on a small canoe. They join her and let her lead them down the dark river. As they pass, the trio sees images of all of the loved ones until they reached a bright room where they meet up with many dark dwarfs.

A New Mission; A New Adventure

Now that the rift is closed, Kalarel is dead, the town of Winterhaven’s spell has been lifted. Everyone seems to remember everything that has gone on and Gwillym, Gworomere, and Vladimir are now considered heroes. In honor of them, the town has given the trio some houses and a 1,000 pieces of gold each. Added with the riches obtained in the dungeon, Gworomere has decided put some of his platinum in the bank here in Winterhaven. Gworomere, now with Salvania at his side, has decided to settle down for a while in the town, Gwillym with no objections. Vladimir has decided that he will meet up with the other 2 in time while he does some searching of his own. 6 months has passed since their venture with Kalarel, and the trio has made themselves at home. Gworomere has made himself at home inside of Wrafton’s Inn while Gwillym makes merry wherever he sees fit. Gworomere is currently engaged to Salvania and none can be happier. Gwillym with his dwarven gut, tells Gworomere that he feels that he needs to head towards his home in the North. Deciding things have been too quiet for some time, Gworomere and Gwillym venture off towards Fallcrest to stock up on supplies to head out towards the North. Since they have decide to spend some time in the town, Gworomere opens another bank account, leaving only a few hundred platinum at the bank, and buying himself a small house. While venturing around in Fallcrest, the two run into an old friend, Vladimir, who has had no success in making his way back to his home. Now that the trio is reunited, they decide to enter in a bar. While inside, Gworomere is met with a friend he hasn’t seen in quite some time: Froncis. Froncis has made himself, as usual, open to the crowed around him. Gwillym then notices two adventures who are with Froncis immediately. One his own father, Foster (Foss), and another, his old girlfriend, whom he hasn’t seen in quite some time, Miri. Vladimir also meets up with an old friend that he met when he first entered the mortal realm, a dragonborn named Jace. Gworomere the only one upset with meeting a failure face, fails in attempting to get his group to leave. While drinking, the group decides to join Froncis’s group and name themselves Froncis and the Vanquishers of Evil, or F.A.T.V.O.E. F.A.T.V.O.E, now consisting of Miri, Foss, Gwillym, Jace, Vladimir, Gworomere, and Froncis decides since both parties are all heading north, to join each other in travels. The next morning, while leaving Fallcrest, the group notices a very familiar face, Padriag, the paladin who sent them to Winterhaven in the first place. He informs the group about an organization known as the Bloodreavers. They don’t seem too far off from Winterhaven and the duergars. Gwillym and his group agree on the mission. While heading north between Thunderspire Mountain and Fallcrest, the group runs into some goblins, which they quickly destroy. The group of F.A.T.V.O.E decides to split, Miri, Froncis, Foss, and Jace in one group, and Gworomere, Gwillym, and Vladimir in another.

The Shadow Rift

Gworomere, Vladimir, Gwillym, and Salvania all decide, after they have rested to find someway to go. Gworomere notices a hidden door inside of the room with the statues. They enter the room to discover a room full of zombies and ghouls. After they defeat the zombies, they notice a large stairway. Heading down the stairs, the see a very large set of doors. They break in the door and see what seems like a river of blood leading down from and even larger set of doors. They defeat any opposition they faced in the room, mainly priest of Orcus, and head towards the doors. The blood is leaking out of the bottom of the door and Gworomere once again peeks inside of the room. Inside of the room, he sees a dark figure at the top of a stage preforming some ritual with a large pool of blood in the center. Obviously, Kalarel thought of the adventurers entering the room, so Gworomere also sees a set of guards placed around. Gworomere then burst in the doors screaming “KALAREL!”, blowing any cover the trio could have gotten. Vladimir burst in with a magic missile, and Gwillym doesn’t waste any time to head towards Kalarel. After defeating the guards, the rift seems to have opened upwith a large dark creature reaching out of the door. They defeat Kalarel, as watch as he is then sucked into the rift himself. The rift shuts and the trio have then saved the mortal world.

Daphnie Rests in Peace

After escaping the torture rooms, the trio, with Salvania, finds their way down a large staircase. They walk down a dark, very lightly lit, hallway. The group starts to feel very eerie. The happen upon a door that has a board that has been nailed across the doors. Scrawled on the door in Common is the word “Closed”. They burst the door down, to smell the stench of blood and rotting flesh. The room is darkly lit with only one torch in the room. They discover one small hand holding a very beautiful white flower. Immediately, they all think of Daphnie. Vladimir sets up a small burial for her inside of the room. Gwillym, Salvania, and Gworomere all kneel for a prayer for her to rest. Another ghost of Daphnie appears to them informing them on her death. She thanks them and gives them one last good-bye. Once she is finally at peace, the trio go to leave the room only to be attacked by a couple of corpses along with a gelatinous cube. They defeated the opposition and leave back out of the door they came. The group continues down the eerie hallway. They reach a very large room that vaguely seems like a memorial. The statues in the room all attack once any person gets too close to them. After destroying the statues, they decide its time for a rest.

Froncis?

The trio follow the changeling towards the church. He leads them around the back and towards a door in the ground. As soon as the door is opened, the group encounters a bunch of hobgoblins. After the battle, they are led down a dark hallway, only to be ambushed with questions by yet another group of hobgoblins. After tricking the hobgoblin leader that they are there on business, thanks to the changeling who is currently disguised as a young man, they are lead towards a waiting room. Inside of the waiting room, they are then strangely separated by different hobgoblin guards and trapped inside of a torture room. Gwillym immediately attacks and fights the hobgoblins in his room, Vladimir easily tricks them into believing that he is a wizard working for Kalarel, the Changeling easily maneuvers is way out of even being taken into torcher room, and Gworomere informs the guards, with Salvania in the room, that his name is “Froncis”; that he is not the rebel they are looking for. Once maneuvering their way out of the rooms, Vladimir and Gwillym find each other. The only one left to be discovered is Gworomere. Gworomere easily slips, with Salvania, out of the room. The changeling, in panic, flees the building disguised as a hobgoblin.

Church of Avandra

Gworomere, Gwillym, and Vladamir are attempting to head backtowards Winterhaven but seem to keep getting lost. Daphine appears ready to help them. As the three are confused on weither or not to trust her, she leads them towards a gate. Salvana happens to be on the other side sitting at a grave. Gworomere attemps to run after her. She seems, this time, able to remember the three. She explains to them that this is her mother’s grave. She just wanted some time to talk with her. In the midst of their discussion, an arrow is shot at the three. There is a large blue rune across the path of the graves. The graves start to rumble, and then realease some skeletons that immeadtly attack them. Though they are able to better the skeletons, more and more continue from the ground. Vladimire finds where the arrows are flying from an elf. She is able to escape, but Gwillym, once again, hits the rune with is ax disabling it. They are able to return to Winterhaven with Salvana’s lead. Once back in Winterhaven, it seems that time has repeated itself once more. Vladmamire is able to discover that the magic is on the specific people of Winterhaven whenever Kalarel whispers a word. The only truble is, they don’t remember a single thing that has happened outside of the gates of Winterhaven. After walking around town for a while, the trio decide to rest inside of Wrafton’s Inn. They request a wake-up call from the barmaids. That morning, they are called upon by a bar maid. She is also carrying three ales for the trio. Gwillym quickly grabs one of the ales only to be stopped by Gworomere. He as realised that the ales are poisened. A barmaid walks up and says that that elf dosen’t work here. She runs down the stairs to be only stopped by Vladamir. They quickly dispose of her without an issue. They also discover a note on her by Kalarel stating that he wants the adventures dead. Distract them and keep them outside of Winterhaven. With Daphnie/Valthrun dead, they have no lead. The town seems to be a bit more upbeat then before. The “Wanted” posters have disappeared, and they walk around without any problem. Once they return to Wrafton’s Inn, they meet up with what appears to be Daphnie. She informs them that there is a meeting tonight after the gates are completely shut. They rest and quickly head towards the meeting. They run into a young man who is white of skin, hair, and eyes. He informs them that he is a changeling and there to help the trio. He was sent by Daphnie to assist them to defeat the main evil. They accept his help. He informs them that he knows where he is needed and shows them towards the church.

The Shadowfell Ruins

Gwillym, Vladimir, and Gworomere once again head back towards Winterhaven with their gold they have obtained. Once they arrive, the town seems dark and the villagers seem nervous. Though it is supposed to be midday, the town is strangely empty. The group walk around town, as the villagers close their doors and windows. Once inside Wrafton’s Inn, Salvana is very shifty around them. She does not approach them. As Gworomere once again attempts to speak to Salvana, Gwillym heads for another ale, and Vladimir notices a “Wanted” poster of the three with their names. They immediately attempt to leave to have guards after them. They are able to get away not wanting to harm any of the villagers. Once again, they attempt to find Valthrun hoping to gain a bit more information. They run into Daphnie who seems a bit uneasy as she tells them a brief history of the Keep. Vladimir is quickly able to explain about Orcus and a bit more information that he is able to remember. They are able to find Valthrun as they are traveling with Daphnie only for Daphnie to call him out. They are able to find out that the one underneath the mask is Kalarel and he has been sending them on wild goose hunts. Daphnie is able to tell them that Kalarel is the priest of the town and there is only one church of Avandra in the town. Knowing immediately that they must return to the Keep Ruins, they head out. Daphnie says her goodbyes at the gate as they are able to find the keep once again. This time, as they approach, they get a very dark feeling inside their stomachs. This is the place they need to be. They search around the keep and are able to find a hidden door with a stairway leading down. They follow the steps and enter into a dark room with very few flickering candles. As they open the only door in the room, they are attacks by Goblins and rats. The trio are able to defeat their enemy as they continue on. Gworomere is able to notice goblin speaking the the room to the west so the trio continue on south down some more stairs. The stairs lead down towards a large room that has been dug in. The room has islands connected by planks all around. The bottom of the pit seems about 15 ft deep. The three run into some goblins guarding the room, obviously keeping something safe. After the battle, they notice that here is no other way outside of the room except back up the stairs. As they look around the room, they notice that there is a secret door right next to the bottom of the steps. They enter in the door. The room is pitch black. The three notice nothing except a very foul smell and a small rune. The three examine the rune. Vladimir attempts to figure out the rune as Gworomere and Gwillym grow impatient. Gworomere instructs Gwillym to just “Hit it with your ax!” and he does so. This leads to an invasion of zombies heading their direction. They continue on hitting just about every rune they run into. At this point, they are versing about 30 zombies. Vladimir gets an idea as he continues to hit one of the runes. The three fall through a pit with only 3 zombies falling after them. They defeat the zombies as Gworomere finds a giant pile of gold, gems, and platinum. Vladimir sets notices a hidden wall and is able to break the riddle. The three take as much gold as they can carry and they rest behind the hidden wall. Once they wake up, they head out of the room by its only exit, the other side of the magic wall. They head out of the room and towards some large double doors. On the other side of the doors, they discover an empty room except for 10 massive stone sarcophagi, 5 on each wall across from each other. They find that they contain enchanted skeleton warriors and defeat them. They discover a room behind one of the Sarcophagi. Inside of the room is a single coffin. As they remove the coffin lead, the skeleton jumps forth and threatens the adventurers. They are able to calm the skeleton, they discover to be Sir Keegan. He explains to them the story of the Shadow Keep and attempts to help the adventurer as he knows that the rift is going to once again be opened. He entrust them to stop this and goes back to rest. The three leave the room out of another door. The door leads downward towards the caves. They run into a few more rats but are able to make it out on the other side of a waterfall. They discover and battle an Ochre Jelly. Afterwards, they meet with Daphnie who explains to them how she knows as much as she does. She is truly Valthrun. Her name is Daphnie Valthrun and she has not really been affected by the spell. She wants to help them and that they must return to Winterhaven and head towards the Church of Avandra inside of the town. They must be on their guard. A light flies over towards Winterhaven. The adventurers head out back towards the town of Winterhaven, tired of going in circles.

Irontooth the Invincible!

After arriving at Wrafton’s Inn, the trio decide to take a quick rest and see if there is anything that can be done. Afterwards, they run into Daphnie who seems very different then she was a few days ago. Once they approach her, she tells them that there is more going on then they see as she breaks character. She returns to her chipper self and continues work around the inn. Salvana and Gworomere do a bit more flirting as Vladimir notices the hooded figure in the corner. He assumes that that that is Valthrun. Once they speak to him, they are informed to head towards the waterfall Northeast of town. Once the three arrive there, they meet some kobolds. Assuming this is where their main villain is, they continue on forward to only run into more Kobolds. Some Kobolds escape the battle and go to warn their master, Irontooth. They enter into a cave behind the waterfall. Many kobolds immediately attack them and they call upon Irontooth, the kobold general. The three escape the cave with a note from Kalarel and some gold as they inadvertently destroy the kobold attacks on Winterhaven.
